Serena is Country Director of Search for Common Ground Nepal. SFCG is an international peacebuilding organization working in 30 countries with a mission to transform the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches towards cooperative solutions. Serena and her team established the SFCG Nepal country office 6 years ago, which has 28 dynamic staff, working with 20 local partner organizations across the country. As Nepal has gone through a transition from violent conflict to peace process, SFCG has created innovative programs to support the transition including a popular TV drama series ‘The Team’ using football as a metaphor for social cohesion, two long running radio soap operas, talk shows across the country that mediate conflict on air, and community based programs working with youth, former combatants, grassroots women leaders, and local decision makers. Serena, an Australian, is also an accredited leadership coach and facilitator and worked with private sector and government in Australia on fostering peak performance for individuals and organizations. She has a Masters in International communication, has produced award winning films and articles, and is passionate about using the power of the media for building peace.
