Long Khet

Executive Director of Youth for Peace

Long Khet is a founder and executive director of Youth for Peace (YFP). He has founded Youth for Peace since 1999 and has more than a decade of practical experience in peacebuilding work. He has been instrumental in the development of the peace, leadership, and reconciliation program for young people in post conflict Cambodia since the beginning of Youth for Peace.  

He holds degrees from the Royal University of Phnom Penh and the Faculty of Pedagogy. During his study in university he involved in peace discussion and peace walk to stop violent conflict during national election in Cambodia. After university graduation, he had taught secondary school in rural province of Cambodia for two years.

He holds a Master in Applied Conflict Transformation from Pannasastra University and Center for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPCS). His interests center on memory initiative and post-conflict recovery as well as ASEAN integration. He wrote his action research on Legacy of Memory in Cambodia. Today, he is involving in Peace Education Research project in Cambodia plus other new initiatives of regional peace project and community based truth telling research.

In addition, he has also engaged in peace building network and conferences locally, regionally, and globally for social justice, peace, and democracy.
