Nicole Lee, Executive Director, Urban Peace Movement
Nicole Lee is the Executive Director of Urban Peace Movement. The mission of Urban Peace Movement is to transform the culture and conditions that lead to urban violence. Urban Peace Movement works to build the leadership of non-traditional youth and young adults from communities hit hardest by violence to both build a culture of peace and to advocate for an expansion of the pool of opportunities for their own communities. Ms. Lee is a fourth-generation Oaklander and has spent the past 14 years in labor and community organizing and policy advocacy work on economic justice and juvenile justice issues. She was also the founding staff person for the East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy (EBASE) and worked for 8 years (from 2001-2009) at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights before founding Urban Peace Movement.
