Georgia Kelly is the founder and director of Praxis Peace Institute. She has produced several multi-day conferences in the U.S. and Europe that focus on peace, environmental sustainability, cultural transformation, citizen participation, and economic models that support an equitable and peaceful world. She develops educational programs for Praxis, which includes conflict resolution workshops and seminars in Spain, Italy, and Cuba, where the focus is studying successful cooperative businesses in different cultures. As a long-time active citizen, she has chaired many issue-based political organizations and campaigns. She was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in 1992 for Jerry Brown (current CA Governor), and is now a member of the Green Party.
In 2013, Georgia edited and co-authored “Uncivil Liberties: Deconstructing Libertarianism,” a cooperative effort generated from Praxis Peace Instittute. The book is a critique of libertarian ideas and laissez-faire capitalism. Prior to founding Praxis Peace Institute, Georgia was a professional musician (harpist and composer) with over a dozen albums recorded from the 1970s through the 1990s. She also writes a blog for the Huffington Post.
