Alice Slater

New York Director of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, Author, Attorney, Co-Founder of Abolition 2000

Alice Slater is the New York Director of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, a non-profit advocacy group that seeks to eliminate nuclear weapons. Slater is also a co-founder of Abolition 2000, a global network working for a treaty to eliminate nuclear weapons and a phase out of nuclear power. She serves on the Advisory Boards of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, and on the Rideau Institute. She is a member of the Coordinating Committees of World Beyond War, working to make the end of war on the planet an idea whose time has come, and the People’s Climate Movement, NY, working for 100% renewable energy by 2030 in New York. She is a member of the Green Shadow Cabinet and serves as its Secretary of Sustainability. In addition, Slater, an attorney, has served as a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on International Affairs and as a United Nations NGO representative where she has organized many conferences and roundtables at the UN on nuclear and environmental issues. She is also the author of numerous articles and op-eds on these subjects, and has frequently discussed her views on disarmament in local and national media.
