Ayat Saleh Mneina

Activist and Co-founder of @ShababLibya

Ayat Saleh Mneina is a graduate student in London, UK at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where she is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Public Health.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada.  Ayat is an activist and co-founder of @ShababLibya, the Libyan Youth Movement which set out to cover the events of the Libyan revolution since February 2nd, 2011.  She is also a founding member of the Libyan Youth Forum, an NGO which aspires to give Libyan youth a voice in post-revolutionary Libya.   Ayat hopes to continue her activism in Libya upon graduation and intends to work in the public health field.   She has been inspired by the youth across the Middle East and North Africa this past year who have courageously spoken out against injustice and called out for their human rights.  

Samra Naas

Co-founder of Libyan youth Forum and the leader of the Libyan Youth Forums media and debates department

Samra Naas was born and raised in Libya and graduated from the University of Tripoli in 2010 with a degree in Medicine. She was married to the late Mohamed Nabbous, who was the founder of an independent, live link TV station called LIbya Alhurra.  Her husband was assassinated during the revolution. After his death, she continued to operate the station, and she worked in cooperation with the Libyan Youth Movement, the Libyan Link, and various media centers. She currently heads the LYF’s Media Department and its Debate Section, and she works on various projects for the LYF and other NGOs in both Tripoli and Benghazi
